Welcome to the Trade Talks section of our USBA site.  Below, you will
find breakdowns on all the latest Big-Time trades.  What is a
"Big-Time" trade?  Well, it isn't Stackhouse for Penny.  Basically, if its
a team changing trade then we'll take a loook but we won;t be
breaking down each and every deal.

We'll give our full un-biased opinion on any deals that we breakdown
along with our final assesment in the form of a few
+++ or, maybe
some
---.  So take a peek and, as awlays, opinions are welcome!
And no, not everyone will agree with all of our reviews, you made a
trade and we called you a dummy?  To bad!
The Dallas Mavericks Get:

C- Pau Gasol
F- Josh Smith
*****
The Des Moines Dynasty Get:

C- Andrew Bogut
G- Raymond Felton
F- Dorell Wright
*********************************************************************
Outlook:

So.  Three maybe-could-be's for two sure things.  Now, in fairness this deal was made in the
preseason when we weren't 100% sure what players would or could be.  But...we kinda knew.
Bogut is still recovering from his horrific injury a couple years ago and was never really a truly
rock solid 20/10 guy.  Felton has been up and down and here and there and he too has never
really broken out or shown any real stud potential.  And Wright, well....he'll go 20/10 one night
and 3/2 the next.

Then we have the other side.  Pau.  As solid as it gets and a DD threat every night.  Smith.  A
stud.  Period.

THE GRADES

>>>Mavs: ++ (Oh hells yeah)

>>>Dynasty: - (Not so hot now.  Maybe better down the line...maybe)
***1-17-12***
The Jersey Storm Get:

F- Nicolas Batum
C- Kwame Brown
F- Andre Iguodala
G- Joe Johnson
*****
The Des Moines Dynasty Get:

F- Michael Beasley
G- Monta Ellis
C- Anderson Varejao
*********************************************************************
Outlook:

This is a bit of a tough one.  Jersey does nab a few nice names here.  Iggy is a solid player
and is also pretty consistent at putting up good, if not stellar numbers.  As for JJ, he is
scary...in two ways.  First off, the guy is a borderline stud capable of throwing up 20+ points
with 6 assists and 6 rebounds at any time.  He is also 30 years old though and with his physical
style of play...is a growing injury risk.  Batum is another who can be scary.  Scary good or
scary bad.  Double digit points with nice auxiliary numbers is possible...and so are nights with 2
points and nothing else.  Not great.  As for Kwame, he has little value when healthy.  None
when hurt.

Des Moines has their own risks here.  Beasley is a GREAT athelete.....but there are tons of
those in the league that also suck.  Tyrus anyone?  Sure Beasley is better than that but he still
struggles to remain consistent.  Luckily he is still young and did go for 19/6 just last year.  The
biggest thing for Beasley.....a trade could help a TON.  We also have Varejao coming over to
the Dynasty.  This is a player who goes hard every single game and he does perform fairly
well.  Not a stud by any means, but still a solid center.   Monta is easy, he is just outside the
"stud" realm (Stud being a guy you will part with quite a bit to get, who you almost never fear
starting, puts up great numbers almost every night and who can help carry your team........just
figured I should clarify.)    He is the best player in the deal and should have years of being this
good ahead of him.
**********************************************************************
THE GRADES

>>>Storm: + (This is very close to being an even, but JJ and Iggy ARE nice while Batum shows
some promise as well)

>>>Dynasty: + (On this side, Monta is a sweet addition and Varejao is not bad at all.  Beasley
should be better than this...and still could be.)

The Dallas Mavericks Get:

F- Michael Beasley
G- Brandon Jennings
1st Round Pick
*****
The Des Moines Dynasty Get:

F- Zach Randolph
F- Elton Brand
*********************************************************************
Outlook:

Ok.  What is going on here?  Maybe Cole feels sorry for ol Lou?  We don;t know but this is
getting scary.  Sure Brand is a good player, but he is 32 and showing his age more often than
not.  Zach on the other hand has been a major stud and a surefire 20/10 guy every single
night...but UH OH dude also has a pretty big injury to the same knee he had microfracture on
in the past.  He too is 30+ and could start to decline sooner rather than later.

On teh Mavs side they nab Beasley which is no great get but still a solid player.  As for
Jennings, he is just 22 and while he can be erratic, he is also a near sure thing to put up at
least 20 points a night with some nice auxiliary stats.  Before long he too could be a nightly DD
threat....and at 8 years ZBo's junior.
**********************************************************************
THE GRADES

>>>Mavs: + (Not to shabby at all.  Nabbed a 1st round pick too....even better)

>>>Dynasty: - (Should have been able to make this deal without the pick...easily)
***1-17-12***
The Chicago Bulls Get:

G- Tyreke Evans
F- Demarcus Cousins
1st Round Pick
*****
The New York Ninja Turtles Get:

F- LeBron James
*********************************************************************
Outlook:

Yowza.  LBJ.  Dude makes studs go cry to their mamma's.  There are VERY few players in the
league of this caliber.  So the question is, how bad did Chicago lose in this one.  Lets start with
the easier assessment, Chris Tucker.    I mean Tyreke.  Now Tyreke has some sick skills and is
a player who can score with the best, rebound like a forward and pass like a guard.  Trouble
is, he can also mentally lapse like a Beasley or break down like a T-Mac.  Still, we would
classify him in the near-stud range with very nice upside.

...And then there is...DeMarcus.  I should be able to say, with 100% accuracy, that Kevin Love
cant TOUCH DeMarcus.  Blake WISHES he was DeMarcus.  MJ is trading his WHOLE TEAM to
get DeMarcus.  Dwight...FEARS DeMarcus.  And...EVERYONE wants to play with DeMarcus.
But...in actuality, I cant say any of that.  What I can say is, DeMarucs is almost
UNCOACHABLE.  DeMarcus DOESN'T take this seriously.  And perhaps the worst......the next
man to go into the stands in an ENRAGED FRENZY...is DeMarcus (watch, it'll happen.)  This
guy has more talent than almost any other forward (or center for that matter), in the game.  But
dude just...doesnt...get it.  He is only 21 so there is some hope for him.  But if he can't control
his body (Holy crap he fouls a lot), and his emotions.....it'll be over far too soon (Shawn Kemp
anyone?)
**********************************************************************
THE GRADES

>>>Bulls: even (Tyreke is very nice and Cousins could be great.....but losing lebron hurts.
The last pick in round 1 is good, but not amazing (Don't kid yourself..it will be the last pick in
the round))

>>>Turtles: + (You never lose when you get LBJ)

The New York Ninja Turtles Get:

F- LaMarcus Aldridge
G- Monta Ellis
G- Marshon Brooks
3rd Round Pick

*****
The Des Moines Dynasty  Get:

C- Dwight Howard
F- Danilo Gallinari
*********************************************************************
Outlook:

Another HUGE deal in the USBA!  And this one really is a blockbuster of blockbusters.  Might
have to go back years to find one bigger.  In this deal NY nabs themselves two studs and one
who could be on his way.  Aldridge is probably the best player coming to NY in this one.
LaMarcus broke through last year with 22/9 numbers and has only bettered them this season
adding more points but keeping up the efficiency.   He ranks as a top 3 forward now, and could
remain so for quite a while as he is only 26.  The only knock on Aldridge is some heart trouble
he's had.  It is minor, but a bum ticker is far from something to ignore.  Also coming to NY is the
high scoring Monta Ellis.  Monta is as quick as any guard in the league and he can dominate
with the shot, the dunk or the assist. He has been a little injury prone over the year but has
shown little in the way of dings and dents this year.  A top 10 guard?  Maybe.  Top 15 for sure.
As for the rookie Brooks, he has made a big impact so far this year and it looks like he should
keep it up.  Fast forward two more seasons and we could be looking at a 20/5 guy!

So what ON EARTH could make this all worth it?  Simple.  The best fantasy basketball center
the league has seen in 10 years.  Dwight does it all and does it better.  He is a DD every night
(not a threat..he just does it).  He is only 26 and by season end, he will be enjoying single
coverage as his opponents try and contain Kobe.  And thats not all!  Also coming back in this
one is the young sharpshooter Gallinari.  Danilo has gone from a great shooter to one of the
best in the league, and hey, he also rebounds.  Now, who does that remind us of?  Peja
anyone?  Like Monta he has been dinged up in the past but so far so good in 2011/12.  Is
Galo a top 10 forward?  Soon....could be.

**********************************************************************
THE GRADES

>>>Turtles: even (Can Dan turn these guys into more than he got for Dwight?)

>>>Dynasty: + (Lost some good talent.  But got better talent back.)
***1-22-12***
The Jersey Storm Get:

C- Andrew Bogut
G- Darren Collison
F- Dorrell Wright

*****
The Des Moines Dynasty  Get:

F- Paul Millsap
G- Mike Conley
2nd Round Pick
*********************************************************************
Outlook:

Well, let the flaming begin (Soprano will surely defend his center)...but......  Bogut is bad mojo.
We knew it'd happen to someone and it was Jeresy that took the bait.  "Bogut is a top 10
center"  "Bogut is healthy"  "Bogut is a stud".  Bet all that was said at some point.  LIES!  The
simple fact is that Bogut is already on the decline as he has not yet and may never fully
recover from the major injuries of the past.  Sure he is a very solid center but thats about it,
add in his frailty and he is far from a top 10 by seasons end.  As for Collison, he is young and
has some good talent but he is also very erratic too.  Still, he makes for a solid guard and his
contract is quite tasty.  Wright too has a contract that is mere pennies.  But he too is also no
stud.  He will "break out" at least 5 times a year before going back to his 13/5 lines.  He is older
than you thought as well...this is who he is and will be for the remainder of his tenure at GS.

Don't get us wrong, Millsap is no 20/10 guy every night but he is far more consistent then
either Collison or Wright.  As long as he gets the minutes he can be counted on for 15/7 or
better almost every night.  He may not ever get much better than this, but as he is now his
numbers are top 25 worthy when it comes to forwards.  Conley.  Stud?  Benchwarmer?  Not
sure?  Neither are we.  Conley is putting up solid numbers so far at 14/7 and he can also be
counted on for good steals and a rebound or two.  He crushes Collison for sure but is he a
star?  A stud?  At 24 he should reach his potential soon.  Maybe 15/8?  Conley is one the jury
is still out on but only when it comes to the stud question.  As far as PGs go, he is quite good
and a top 20 option at that exact position (that is to say top 20 PG...not top 20 G).

**********************************************************************
THE GRADES

>>>Jersey: - (....Will regret dealing for Bogut)

>>>Dynasty: + (Did give some other good pieces with Bogut, but a 2nd round pick helps keep
this a solid +)
