From The Dallas Mavericks - Dirk Nowitzki
From The Seattle Supersonics - Ray Allen
From The Philadelphia 76ers - Kyle Korver
a late breaking entrant....participating while still recovering from injury........
From the New Orleans Hornets - Peja Stojakovic
From The Phoenix Suns - Steve Nash
From The Detroit Pistons - Chauncey Billups
The inagural Insanity 3-Point Shootout featured some of
the most spot-on 3 point snipers in the league.  Before the
contest, the order of participation was chosen at random.

Nowitzki would lead us off and at first, it looked like the only
sure thing was the money ball as Dirk would nail all 5
money balls but would finish his round with just 16.
The inagural Insanity 3-Point Shootout featured some of
the most spot-on 3 point snipers in the league.  Before the
contest, the order of participation was chosen at random.

Nowitzki would lead us off and at first, it looked like the only
sure thing was the money ball as Dirk would nail all 5 red,
white and blue basketballs, but he would finish his round
with just 16 total points.
Up next would be one of the leagues deadliest from long
range, Ray Allen.  Yet he too struggled from the field and
on top of that, he would miss all of the 2pt Money Balls.
Ray's shot looked good......but it just wouldn't fall
Kyle Korver would turn things around with a score of 22, yet
he too had problems with that money ball, making just 1.

Peja followed Korver.  He did his best, but it was evident that
his back was not fully healed.  He hit three money ball but
finished with just 17.

Up next was Billups who missed all but 1 money ball
continuing the bad run with the 2pt shots.  He would however
make plenty of 1 point shots and would finish with 21.
At one point in Round 1, Billups made 9 straight (a prelude
of things to come) including this money ball....his only one
of the round.
Nash would finally give us a score to really be proud of.  His
form was great and it looked as though he was on a roll.  He
would finish with 26 along with 3 money balls.

At the end of round one the six players showed an utter lack
of ability when it came to that money ball and all told only 14
of the 30 money balls.  Moving on to round 2 would be
Billups, Korver and Steve Nash.

Final Round One Scores

Nash - 26
Korver - 22
Billups - 21
Peja - 17
Nowitzki - 16
Allen - 15
Round 2 would begin with Chauncy Billups and yet again, the
Money Ball failed to drop.  Billups would hit 2 of them.....and 21
regular shots!  With a score of 23 Billups was looking good......

.....And Korver would ensure that Chauncy would make it to the
finals.  He would miss every money ball and finish with just 11.
Up last would be Steve Nash and unless he suffered a total
collapse, he'd be in the final.
He shot the Money Ball, but he never came close
to making one.
Indeed Nash would shine and cash 14 in a row from the start!!
He would finish with 3 money ball makes and 26 total point,
tying his total from round one and sending him to the Finals.

Round 2 Final Scores

Nash - 26
Billups - 23
Korver - 11
After just two racks, Steve Nash had scored enough to advance to the Final Round.
Our final round would see two of the leagues top guards
squaring off as Billups would take on Nash.  Nash finished with
the higher score in Round 2 and would elect to go after
Chauncey.

Big mistake.  As if sensing that he needed to rack up some big
numbers, Mr. Big Shot came out
ON FIRE......and that fire
would never wain.  Shot after shot, rack after rack Billups
drained.......3 after 3.  5 money balls, 5 racks, ZERO misses
and a perfect 30 for 30.

Such a round is rare and now Steve Nash would need to match
it in order to force a tie break.  It didn't happen.  When it comes
to 5 on 5 basketball Steve Nash is rock solid during the regular
season and the playoffs.  This time though, his confidence
faded fast and it was over in an instant.  He would miss his first
shot and the title went to Billups, after that, it didn't seem like he
cared anymore.  Nash would miss every money ball and come
up with a dreadful total of 6.
When it mattered most, it all came together for Chauncey Billups
as he would roll to a PERFECT 30/30 in the final round.
Nash would follow up with the worst score of the contest......6
So, Mr. Big Shot would live up to his name in the inagural
Insanity 3-Point Shootout.......when asked if he would defend
his tilte in '08 Billups let everyone know that should the event
be voted a success by the owners in the league, and return for
2008....he would be back.

Final Round Scores

Billups - 30
Nash - 6
Chauncey Billups would finish a Champion after his 30 for 30 effort in the final round.
The glitz of Vegas was evident from the start
